Technology companies with venture capital backing have surpassed expectations and contributed significantly to the economic recovery since the start of Covid-19 two long years ago. The VC ecosystem is starting to emerge as the only source of vitality left in a world economy mostly devoid of fresh investment prospects. In 2021, record amounts of money were invested in the European venture capital sphere. 2021 saw the establishment of over 50,500 businesses in Switzerland, an increase of about 8 percent from the previous year. The total amount of venture capital investments made in Switzerland has grown consistently over the past few year; with the exception of 2020, it reached a volume of over 3.06 billion Swiss francs in 2021.
