Investing in Energy Tech is no longer just about creating a cleaner future— it’s a strategic economic move. As the world shifts toward decarbonization, the opportunity to invest in scalable, impact-driven solutions has never been more crucial. At Future Energy Ventures (FEV), we are committed to backing early-stage Energy Tech startups that are not only driving the energy transition but also shaping the next generation of sustainable technologies. With a special focus on identifying high-potential startups globally, we are accelerating innovations that will deliver significant CO₂ reductions and create new economic opportunities.
Since our founding in 2016, we have specialized in identifying and investing in startups that offer scalable, technology-driven solutions. We focus primarily on digital-first business models, SaaS platforms, and scalable hardware innovations—particularly those that can make a tangible impact on emissions reduction within the next decade. Our investments range from €1 million to €10 million per startup, and we specifically look for companies that have the potential to scale rapidly and efficiently.
Although we are headquartered in Berlin, with additional offices in Tel Aviv and Palo Alto, our reach is truly global. Based in Berlin, I am deeply involved in shaping our strategy and maintaining strong connections with Germany’s dynamic startup ecosystem. Meanwhile, our offices in Tel Aviv and Palo Alto keep us closely connected to innovation hubs in Israel and the United States.
“The technology already exists—now is the time to channel the necessary capital to scale these solutions and unlock their full potential”
In my opinion, the success of the next industrial revolution depends on clean energy and scalable, innovative technologies. By continuing to invest in high-potential startups worldwide, we are not only fostering a sustainable future but also positioning Europe as a global leader in the low-carbon economy. Recent global political and economic shifts—including the war in Ukraine and changes in the United States’ political landscape— have underscored Europe’s critical need for energy independence. At the same time, the growing frequency of climate disasters highlights the urgency of developing scalable, resilient solutions. In this context, startups around the world have a pivotal role to play. By backing innovative companies globally, we are not only securing Europe’s energy future but also creating new economic opportunities that will support long-term global competitiveness.
With the launch of Fund II in 2024, targeting €250 million, we are doubling down on our mission to accelerate the global energy transition. Fund II focuses on scaling innovative digital solutions, AI-driven energy systems, and breakthrough storage technologies—areas essential to transforming the energy landscape. Our portfolio of over 50 investments already reflects the global potential of these technologies, with companies like Bidgely, Buildots, EV.Energy, Piclo, Reev, and Thermondo revolutionizing the energy sector. These startups are making a tangible impact on decarbonization and stand as a testament to the power of scalable, digital-first solutions in the energy sector.
Through the strategic investments we make, I believe that a clean energy future is not just a distant vision but a reality within our reach. The technology already exists—now is the time to channel the necessary capital to scale these solutions Jan Lozek and unlock their full potential.
